Apparently, this software is for ‘ Don’t recommend outdated crap please. So it’s virtually useless. Just extract IpSwitch. Program settings will be saved in data.
The program is without a doubt a gem for those who need to change their network settings. Not to mention that is free for personal use.
Short NetSetMan review: Changing the Internet Connection for each different place would be just a reason. Sure, that was a long time ago, now I have a powerful laptop that acts like a desktop replacement and I am taking it everywhere with me. At home, work, in a hotel room – I have only one laptop.
If you read everything, you’re now thinking why I am talking about my life. Well, there is a reason for this. Without this introduction I would not be able to show you that NetSetMan can save you time and ease your work. That’s what he does, he allows you to create a network profile, save it and apply it later, whenever you need to.
If you have a different ISP at work, another one at home and a different other at a hotel, NetSetMan will save you a lot of time. Just to be clear from the start, this is not a full reference or complete tutorial. It’s just a quick-guide for novice users so that you can take a look at what is it and how he can help you. That being said, download NetSetMan from official homepage and install the software I repeat, for personal use is Freeware , for commercial use you have to buy the PRO version which is not expensive.
Once you open the program for the first time it will look like this: For example, I have only one laptop and I am carrying it with me everywhere. At home, work and when I travel in a hotel room.
Obviously, I would have to switch between 3 different Internet Connections unless all of them are the same which is hard to believe. Solution 1: I am changing my network settings manually each time. The main disadvantage is that I am losing time each time I do this, not much a couple of minutes but it will probably be days in several years.
Solution 2: I just discovered NetSetMan and I am using it for the first time. The advantage is that it will save my time helping me not to repeat the same thing a million times.
In order to avoid any confusion, it’s always good to rename the default profiles. You can do that in several ways but here’s one of them.
Perform a right-click with your mouse on the desired profile that you want to change. A new window will open and from there choose “Rename”. Enter desired name and hit “OK” button and that’s it.
I also “highlighted” the zones and necessary steps. As you can see from the following image, step 3 is optional. Based on my previous information, I could rename all profiles limited to 6 of them in Freeware version and specify the necessary settings. I will stop here with profile settings.
Once you learn to modify one, the others are the same and certainly I would do nothing but to repeat the same image over and over. However, I will continue to show you a couple of images and only several other options so you may want to look at them too.
How to retrieve the current settings of a network adapter. If you want to find out your current Windows network settings: Open NetSetMan – select a profile example: Then, perform a right-click on the profile and from that new window select – Get Current Settings.
The program will automatically fill all the fields with the current settings of your network adapter. How to copy the settings of one profile to others without the need to type the data again. If you need to use the same network settings for another profile, here’s how to do this: From NetSetMan interface – select a profile – perform a right-click and from there click on “Copy Settings”.
Now, go to another profile select it that you want to apply the same settings, perform a right click and select “Paste Settings”. Once you will do this, there is a small confirmation window. Choose “YES” and the program will automatically fill all the fields copied from the other profile. I didn’t include an additional screenshot with the same settings. Export and import profiles on other computers.
If you need to use the same settings on other PC’s such as those of family members and you need the same settings, just install NetSetMan on them and import profiles that you already saved.
You need to export profiles and then to use import feature. The following feature can be found if you open NetSetMan and from his interface you select the second tab named “Options”. Right-under you have the “Export-Import” Profiles feature. Access Microsoft Windows Network Settings or related features that may interact with them.
Instead of browsing on your computer for different areas related to your network settings, you can access them from one place.
Go to software interface and from there select “Tools” tab and choose desired section and you will be taken there. Switch the software interface from Full Mode to Compact Mode. I doubt that “default” interface could look complicated as it’s pretty clear that the application is made to be “understood” by as many people as possible. Still, you can switch from Full Mode to Compact Mode and vice versa.
To do that, look for “Compact Mode” button near “Activate” button and click on it. If you want to switch back to “Full Mode” you have to select “Full Mode”.
The following image is only with the compact mode but I have highlighted the “Full Mode” button: I would need hundreds of images and I could write hundreds of pages just to cover all his features. Finally, this can’t be considered a NetSetMan tutorial and if you need Help with other things there are dedicated sections for this. First, go to program Help section or press F1 from NetSetMan , there is an excellent resource and a complete tutorial with most important options.
One last thing, if you want to support the software, consider buying a license for the PRO version.
